McGurk Architects is an RIBA chartered practice based in Magherafelt which was founded by the current principle, Mr Colm McGurk in 1993.

McGurk Architects provides a full professional architectural consultancy service for both private and public sector clients across the UK and beyond.  The company have experience in delivering projects in a wide range of sectors including leisure, education, ecclesiastical, commercial, housing and master planning.

The practice subscribes to the view that quality and innovation can be achieved through careful consideration of our clients’ needs and budget. In a wider context we ensure that our practice enhances the built environment with sustainable schemes on their behalf.  We work actively with all our clients, consultants and contractors to ensure that a continuous dialogue is created from conception to completion, resulting in a high quality of design.


Environmental Policy

It is the policy of the company to conduct business in an environmentally responsible manner. The company accepts that concern for the environment and sustainability should influence the services provided to clients, and should be incorporated into those services.

To achieve this it is the policy of the company to establish and maintain a documented Integrated Services management system, which is an integral part of the company’s operations, and to comply with all relevant legislation.

The Integrated Services system, which is to be applied to all work undertaken by the company, is based on the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 9001: 2008 and controls by means of written procedures, all activities that are critical to the achievement of the specified environmental requirements.

The company will take environmental impact into account in the planning, design and implementation of the projects they undertake. They will also incorporate environmental and sustainability considerations into design standards and practices with regard to the use of materials, energy consumption and recycling.

The company is committed to the continual assessment and improvement of the effectiveness of it’s environmental policies through the systematic analysis of data and the subsequent setting of objectives and targets for improvement.

The management shall communicate the effectiveness of the environmental system to all levels within the company.

Attainment of the standards embodied in the system requires the commitment and participation of all members of the company as well as suppliers and subcontractors. To this end all employees of the company will be committed to continual improvement in the environmental performance of the company.

The company shall encourage suppliers and subcontractors to adopt environmentally sound and responsible practices.

The quality system, which is to be applied to all work undertaken by the company, is based on the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 and controls by means of written procedures, all activities that are critical to the achievement of the specified quality. The company is committed to complying with the requirements laid down within the Integrated Services management system.

The company is committed to the continual review, assessment and improvement of the effectiveness of the management system through the systematic analysis of data and the subsequent setting of objectives and targets for improvement. Objectives and targets will be reviewed at regular intervals to ensure effective implementation.
